The Iconic White T-Shirt
THE HISTORY
“Along with jeans, the classic white tee remains a key element of the quintessential casual-cool uniform: Its very plainness, after all, leaves room for self-invention, the root of the American dream.” - Vogue.com
The white t-shirt is an iconic part of history, from the crewneck, white undershirt issued as a part of the U.S. Navy uniform in the early 20th century to Marlon Brando and James Dean who were the first to rock the white tee as a stand-alone, outer-garment in the ‘50s.
The t-shirt pushed boundaries, symbolized rebellion, and yet became a unisex mainstay in the fashion world. Eventually, in the ’60s graphic t-shirts hit the scene and self-expression was at an all-time high.
HEIGHTS APPAREL X THE WHITE T-SHIRT
The t-shirt has evolved over the years but one thing has remained true, everyone needs a good, well-fitting white t-shirt in their closet. Enter Scott Warren, 6’7, tall, slim guy who spent his entire life struggling to find clothes that fit his long and lean body type, including the staple tee.
Scott set out to design the best t-shirt on the market for guys 6’3 and taller and through rounds of sampling, custom patterns and a lot of trial and error, the Heights Signature Tall T-Shirt was born, the first product that ultimately launched the Heights Apparel brand.
What makes Heights T-Shirt so special?
- The Fabric: Scott sourced Lyocell in a variety of colors - “Lyocell fabric is an amazing eco friendly fabric that represents a milestone in the development of environmentally sustainable textiles. Lyocell is a natural, man made fibre. Made with wood pulp from sustainable tree farms, lyocell textiles are created through the use of nanotechnology in an award-winning closed-loop process that recovers or decomposes all solvents and emissions. It is 100% biodegradable, perhaps the greatest benefits are the variety and exceptional comfort you can experience with lyocell clothing.” - simplififabric.com
- The Manufacturing: All of the Heights Signature Tall T-Shirts are Made In The USA. Scott didn’t cut corners or sacrifice quality when he set out to create his signature shirt. He didn’t outsource production to China and meticulously worked with manufacturers stateside to produce the product that would be the signature of his brand.
- The Fit: Not only did he create the custom pattern for the perfectly fitting tall guy shirt, he immersed himself in classes at F.A.B.R.I.C., a fashion industry incubator in his hometown of Tempe, Arizona, learning everything from measurement specs to technical flat illustrations to manufacturing small batch collections.
The high-quality, eco-friendly fabric, stateside manufacturing and purposeful design of the Heights Signature Tall T-Shirt, are reason enough every tall guy should be wearing this shirt on repeat.
